Marketing Specialist-Dairy - Freeport, IL

Furst-McNess Company has an immediate opening for an enthusiastic Marketing Specialist with a primary focus to the dairy industry to help us in our overall marketing efforts and to be an integral part of the development and execution of marketing plans that reach targets from brand awareness to product promotion.  This position must be a competent marketing professional able to grasp consumer behavior trends and generate creative ideas.  This individual should also be well-versed in specialized marketing concepts, principles and tactics.  The goal is to deliver effective marketing programs that will build upon our strong brand and drive company growth.

Responsibilities Overview:                                                 

  • Conduct market research to find answers about customer and consumer trends and requirement.

  • Collaborate with marketing and other professionals to coordinate brand awareness and marketing efforts.

  • Brainstorm and develop ideas for creative marketing campaigns.

  • Plan and execute initiatives to reach our target market through appropriate channels, including social media, email, direct mailers, advertising, etc.

  • Assist in analyzing marketing data (campaign results, conversion rates, traffic, customer churn, etc.) to help shape future marketing strategies.

  • Aid in identifying target customer segments in relation to their existing and potential business volume.

  • Participate in the in the execution of the Company Strategic Plan for the assigned Operating Areas.

  • Provide marketing communications for customers and prospects to inform and educate them on available products and services.

  • Keep a pulse on competitive activity.

  • Manage assigned marketing campaigns through the use of Company systems and processes.

  • Participate in the search and development of business and product opportunities.

  • In conjunction with management, field staff or independently as the situation dictates, develop sales and marketing presentations of Company programs, products and services.

  • Develop, or manage the development of, marketing materials such as technical bulletins, product guides, information sheets, fliers, brochures, etc.

  • Help manage the Company website.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of regionalized sales and marketing calendars and scheduling.

  • Develop marketing collateral and presentations with select graphic programs, including Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Coordinate and manage digital marketing efforts, including website maintenance, Facebook, Linked In, Twitter, and other digital marketing.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Be able to succeed within and adhere to the culture of the Furst-McNess Company.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without accommodation.
  • Education equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Ag Journalism or Ag Communication/Marketing with coursework in Animal Science.
  • Proven experience as marketing specialist or similar role.
  • Exceptional communication and writing skills.
  • Strong dairy industry awareness.
  • Thorough understanding of marketing elements (including traditional and digital marketing such as SEO/Social media etc.) and market research methods.
  • Demonstrable experience in marketing data analytics and tools.
  • Solid computer skills, including MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and Web analytics software.
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS and web development tools (Word Press) desired.
  • Well-organized and detail-oriented.

  • Ability to provide outstanding customer service to all associates and management staff.
  • Ability to effectively organize work schedules and manage multiple assignments within agreed upon guidelines.
  • Ability to travel domestically as needs arise.
