Credit Associate - Freeport, IL

Furst-McNess Company has an immediate opening for a Credit Associate to assist in administering all credit and collection functions.  This position reports to the Director of Credit with a functional reporting relationship to the Accounting Manager.

Responsibilities:                                                 

  • Process credit and bank references for all Applications for Credit.
  • Assist in answering and responding to inquiries (phone calls and email) from sales staff and customers.
  • Process all payments received in the Freeport Corporate Office.
  • Maintain all customer files and complete daily filing as required.
  • Process daily invoicing and sort monthly statements.
  • Provide clerical services as needed to the Director of Credit.
  • Provide support work on miscellaneous credit projects as needed.
  • Provide backup for the Credit and Accounting Departments where requested.
  • Complete all other duties as assigned or required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Be able to succeed within and adhere to the culture of the Furst-McNess Company.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without accommodation.
  • Education equivalent to a Bachelors' degree or the equivalent in work experience.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to interact with both internal and external contacts in a professional manner with regards to credit issues.
  • Ability to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the company's credit policies and procedures and the ability to perform assigned duties with minimal supervision or direction.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and use of negotiating and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to provide outstanding customer service to all associates and management staff, showing a sense of urgency relative to solving problems and performing assigned tasks.Ability to effectively organize work schedules and manage multiple assignments by utilizing time management skills to ensure assignments and projects are completed within agreed upon guidelines.
  • Ability to work as an effective team member.  Willingness to pitch in and do work that may not be a specific part of the job description for the overall good of the Company.
  • Ability to travel, including overnight stays, as business dictates.  Must, at all times, possess a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record (within guidelines set forth in company vehicle policy.
